Experience gp recording your calls and taking pictures?

I have a friend that told me his experience with a GP. When the gp had her phone up she told him that she always recording  her clients phonecalls and often takes pictures with a spy cam in the apartment. "For security reasons" she told him.

Is this common in the business?
