Great rhytm in that Santana song. Yeah, it can be analyzed from many angles. It is one of the many books I remember from school. I agree there are still some of the same prejudices, though I do not think it is as bad as it used to be. Maybe I am just not exposed to it, I do not know. My parents divided everyone up into groups. A doctor was worth more than a teacher, a company owner more than a doctor, etc. They had a hierarchy where europeans were on top, below them followed asians, but asians were subdivided into further subgroups, and so on and so forth. They pretended to accept my ex wife but she did not look right, though she had a good education, job, etc. I felt like applying an appropriate amount of blunt force to my parents. I love this song, though the original version is more danceable.

Did you ever watch the old version? It is certainly more modern and dramatic than the old movie. I think the key scene is Daisy’s choice. She loved both of them (at times) and she chose the man who did not really love her and that she had drifted away from. I had a look at the same scene from the old movie. It makes it more clear that she chose stability and money. Gatsby made me think of the insane things one can do for a girl, and thus this song.

I did not notice they had made a remake of The Great Gatsby. Did you watch it, @Rafaela? Was it any good? I watched a few movies in the theater last year. One of the better movies was Dune part 2. One of my favorite book quotes is ”fear is the mind killer”. It encourages me to do things I do not want to do or that I am scared of. I miss reading. I think all parents ought to encourage their children to read books. Because as an adult, there are a million distractions and so many other priorities. When videos are expected to be 5 - 10 minutes, reading a book seems quaint. Has anyone read Half of a Yellow Sun? I have wanted to read it for a long time. Wow, I did not know zouk, Brazilian dancing seems underrated, it is always salsa and bachata. Certainly more sensual and genuine than the Anitta video. I like how they swirl around each other. Dancing reminds me a bit of sex sometimes. Emotional, meditative and full of impressions. Yeah, a lot of reggaeton is sex bait. Karol has a diverse repertoire, not just reggaeton. This is one of my favorite parts of her documentary. It is less over the top emotionally if one has seen the whole leadup to that moment. I like how she walks into the ocean of people.

Great song @Rafaela. Do you generally like boy bands or only that one? Yeah, they dance really well, it must be awesome to dance like that. I can hold normal 1:1 conversations in Spanish. But songs can be hard to understand without lyrics. I agree Romeo Santos can be tiring to listen to but he is very popular. It occurred to me that in this long thread, we have not had any salsa. I have not listened to a lot of salsa. But someone recommended this song to me. Certainly a really sweet song? Maybe someone knows something more recent.

Thanks for the song, it is very chévere. And energetic, compared to the more melodic and hip hop-ish Colombian reggaeton. Eres tanto que no cabes, certainly more succinct and has a different feel to it. It is one of the enjoyable things to notice when learning a new language. Don Omar must have been really big, also as reggaeton started in Puerto Rico. I am vaguely familiar with him, someone played a lot of his songs for me. I did not know he was still making hits. I like this song with Anitta, it reminds me a lot of the co-op she did with Snoop Dogg. It is one of the few songs where she sings in Portuguese, she seems to sing mostly in Spanish.
